Night to remember

The music throbbed.
The lights flashed
The dance floor was heaving.
I scanned the room and then I saw him.
The most handsome man there.
Our eyes met only briefly but his radiant smile remained as I walked towards him.
I danced his dance.
We stimmed we rocked.
I squeaked with his squeaks.
He held my hand HE HELD MY HAND!!!
I felt we were the only two people there. Worries forgotten as we lived in the moment.

I felt connected.

The evening was then cut short as Cs staff had to take him back (end of shift). But it was a magical night, Cs night club debut, one I will remember for a long time.

No fingers in ears!!

Cs first taste of alcohol!

Did i mention he held my hand!!!

He was fasinated by the smoke!

Merry Christmas Everyone!

How great that the nightclub puts on a night for people with disabilities. I don't think about experiences like that that others take for granted. I'm so glad he enjoyed it.

May he have many more enjoyable boogie nights!

He handled a nightclub? Go C! :)

I can't handle them at all!!!

Sounds like you had an excellent evening!

Gonna share my one of these with you...

My wee girl's Asperger-autistic and it's often hard for me to know what's on her mind. I showed her my CV (she asked me what I'd been working on while we were at lunch in a burger place). She saw the stuff I've done and then she read my little bit in Finnish at the end (I'm not a native speaker of the language). And then she looked me in the eye and said: 'Dad, I'm very proud of you!'

I got choked up. I can relate a little to you experience with C, and I hope you get many more of these. It's often assumed that we autistics can't enjoy things like that, but we can!

I was enjoying your post until I got to the picture of C swigging a beer and your exuberant comment, "C's first taste of alcohol!"
WTF?
Alcohol is bad for anybody. Imagine experiencing room spins, nausea and headache when you don't have the ability to understand what is happening to you or what caused it.
Oh but he just had one beer.
Uh-huh.
Letting him have that beer is just as careless as hiring a hooker and posting a picture of him having "his :first sex!"

It was very good of you to publish an anonymous comment and then answer it.

Your courage inspires me often.

I agree alcohol brings much more bad than good, however, "Letting him have that beer is just as careless as hiring a hooker and posting a picture of him having "his :first sex!""

Was an ENORMOUS departure from a simple sip...

Be well.

Sorry to be off topic, but I wanted to make sure you knew about the latest that is happening with Jerry and his, yes, humanitarian award:

Jerry Lewis, the man who runs the annual Telethon to raise money for people with muscular dystrophy in the US is about to receive a humanitarian award. Many people in the disability community is protesting this award because they feel that Jerry perpetuates and entrenches negative, harmful stereotypes toward people with disabilities. More about the petition campaign at: http://www.petitiononline.com/jlno2009/petition.html
