What do you collect?

What do you collect?
Apparently what you collect has a meaning.

Cars; This is a projection of external power. Ensuring you have a way to get ahead.
Books; A desire for knowledge and personal growth.
Masks; Not being true to yourself.
Miniatures; Wanting to feel in control. Attempting to reduce problems.
Souvenirs; Holding on to your experiences.
Stamps; You want to keep the world in an orderly fashion. A desire to make a good impression.

Etc. You get the drift!

I collect sparkly things for C (used to be chopsticks!) wonder what that means.
C seems to like to collect diagnoses! His latest one is Tourettes which he is being seen about in a couple of weeks.
And for myself I collect books and crystals.
What do you like to collect?!

Books (which is getting to be a problem now that we barely have room to move because of bookcases), horses, and hippos. I have no idea what the hippo thing says about me :-)

I collected books for a while but haven't had time to read for a few years now. I think I"m just trying to collect my thoughts at this point. haha

Ironically, any collection I have, has begun by gifts given to me.

I'd say my biggest collection has been my Barbie Dolls. Although I began selling them off a couple years ago, I have had up to 1000 at one time. I'm down to about 300 now.

I don't collect as such, but I like to keep cardboard boxes as 'they might come in handy' which lead to rather a 'collection' of boxes, my husband has banned cardboard boxes, he thinks I have a 'cardboard issue' !!

Each to their own.

This reminds me of my son. He loves action figures, like many other boys. He lines them up and then asks me how I like his collection. =o)

I like little pebbles and sticks-- I have a fossil that I love--but it is hardly a collection--

I collect perfumes of course, but I also pass many along--I do keep the prettiest bottles to display on my dresser, because displaying full bottles would harm the scent. So I guess I collect empty bottles which sounds either sad or zen!

I find little toys all of the time at the park or in a parking lot-- mostly broken, but tiny and interesting-like a doll head or a gumball machine prize. Once when I was a teenager my dad picked something up off of the sidewalk and turned and gave it to me. It was a tiny pair of spectacles--for a very small doll-- they were so adorable. Tiny things tend to vanish again though--I still have a little bird pin my sister found--it looks like it was run over by a car and some stones are missing from it--but it is a phoenix bird-- it rose again to sit with my good jewelry!

I collect tins. I have 2 sets. The favored one has reto advertising on the tins. The more recent off-shoot is tins in the shape of houses.
I also have one tin full of various buttons... ANOTHER sort of collection.
what does it mean??? just kidding. I don't need to have any deeper meaning. I just like 'em.

Turtles. (Not real ones.) This didn't start out as a deliberate thing; it sort of evolved.

In some cultures the turtle symbolizes the unity of heaven and earth. The shell is the celestial dome and the turtle's flat underbelly represents the earth.

I dunno. I just like 'em.

I used to think I didn't collect anything - my husband's the collector (Star Wars figures), but I guess I collect books.

What does it mean when a person collects all sorts of things? Beanie babies, dishes, shoes, Betty Boop, clocks, etc.?

I USED to collect china/pottery/metal pigs... I think because I felt like a pig (I was huge).... but when my 2nd brother died in a car accident just like my 1st brother... I stopped and gave them all away (except the last ones my brother gave me). Nowdays I collect anything NAUTICAL.... shells, anchors, craypots, bouys, toy boats.... I'm mad! But I love the sea, one day we will live by the sea and have a boat and go fishing every day. BLISS. Oh... I also collect (inadvertantly) bloody kids. How did I end up with 8 !!!

Recently, swords. I only have two and they are very expensive so I don't know how many more I can get. What that says? Easy. I wish I lived in a world or time where I could wear one all the time.

Hi casdok,

First of all, thank you for commenting on some of my blog entries :)

Now to your question. I collect autographs. At age 21, I still like cartoons (could this be the autism in me??), and I like getting autographs from the voice actors. Two of them have even emailed me on occasion.

I guess books would be my number one but I have a lot of collections, but nothing obsessively or over-the-top.

Christmas Cheers!

P.S. Hurray! Google/Blogger has restructured the blogging comments to allow non-Bloggers like me to post links back to my site.

Mostly right now I collect dust!!! I'm serious..I have oodles of the stuff!!! I do have a lot of books but I wouldn't call it a collection and it's no something I consciously collect. I think really I am not about "collecting" or amassing..they are "things" and after a bout with cancer, "things" mean so little to me.

Perhaps I could say that I collect quotes, thoughts and love.

Where did you get the info on what certain collections mean? That's really cool, especially about the miniatures. Hmmmmm
