There's nowt so queer as folk!

"There's nowt so queer as folk " A quaint North of England expression, one of my mums favorite sayings. And it is so true!

I thought C had a strange diet until I saw this

Michel Lotito (aka Monsieur Mangetout) from Grenoble, France, has been eating metal and glass since 1959. Gastroenterologists have described his ability to consume 900 g (2 lb) of metal per day as "unique". Mangetout - Michel's nickname - literally translates as "eats everything". Michel says bananas and hard-boiled eggs make him sick.

I thought C had a small waist till I saw this;

Cathie Jung's waist is about the same size as a regular jar of mayonnaise. She's been wearing a corset every day for the past 12 years, and she now wears one 24 hours a day. "I probably have around 100 of them," says the corset queen.

I thought C could do strange this with his eyes till I saw this;

Kim Goodman (USA) can pop her eyeballs to a protrusion of 12 mm (0.47 in) beyond her eye sockets. 2007.

C at times has had long hair as he doesn’t like it being cut but...

The world's longest documented hair belongs to Xie Qiuping (China) at 5.627 m (18 ft 5.54 in) when measured on May 8, 2004. She has been growing her hair since 1973 from the age of 13.

And nail cutting, is really difficult but…

Lee Redmond (USA), who hasn't cut her nails since 1979, has grown and carefully manicured them to reach a total length of 7 m 51.3 cm (24 ft 7.8 in).

How does she go to the loo?
So what world records do you think you have?

Now these records are amazing!!!

I don't know how she copes with those finger nails... she obviously doesn't have to type!!!

I agree, how does she go to the loo?

Good grief. She must be hiding behind it.

Norah said...

She probably goes to the loo with some human assistance :P

One question: why?????

I think the women who grow there nails like that are stupid, using it as there fame, but then have to have someone else do everything for them! hmmmm.... maybe she IS on to something!

Those nails put quite the shudder down my spine!

I don't know which is stranger--the eyes or the nails!

I'll let everyone else debate that!

And don't worry about commenting at the Butterfly, come by anytime! My friend Singleton and I write poems back and forth there, it's like our electronic notebook. Then we dip into them for posts as need be. It's always nice to know someone who we can create alongside and compliment each other's work!

Take care!

I think the nail woman is revolting! As for eating metal!

Happy New Year, Casdok. May you and C have a wonderful 2008 and may you continue entertaining us with your marvellous blogs.

Thanks for stopping by Small Reflections. These are truly amazing photos of unusual folk. I guess it does take all kinds. BTW - I love the Wall Against Hate in your sidebar! Would you mind if I shared it on one or both of my blogs?

May 2008 bring peace, joy and wonder to you and yours.

OH for heaven sake!!!!!
And to think I have concerned about the kids!!!!

I do know women with extreemly long hair though...The Pentecostal church does not allow women to so much as trim there hair. It is not that uncommon for women to have hair like that if they have been brought up in it...............the waist thing is just weird! The nails are gross. YUCK.

Casdok said...

Storyteller,
please feel free to have a Wall against hate. Bev from Asperger square 8 made it from all her comments on her blog. Great isnt it!

jennwa said...

I love the eye popping out. I have seen that before and for some strange reason I wish I could do that. It would be funny to do to people. I know, I am weird.

how can anybody even attempt to function with fingernails like that?
geesh.

the hair is awesome though.
even though i can't stand my own hair being long.

have a good day.

he-he. I love the comments wondering how the one with the long fingernails goes to the loo.

She can't cook, pick, scratch or type, either. She wouldn't be able to use a finger to push any button, just think how many buttons you use everyday. She basically has lost all the functionality of her hands to grow long nails.

WHY? If I chopped off my hands, I'd could still do more with my arms than she can trying to keep her fingernails long and intact.

I can't find one benefit, other being a record holder (big whoop). The disadvantages far outweigh any benefit, if there is one.

MY OWN WOMAN... said...

Ok, I assume the "loo" is the same as the toilet which brings up a list of unhealthy thoughts in my mind in regards to those nails. Does she was her nails separately from her hands? It gives me the shivers!

Mel said...

Holy moly.....

Why WOULD ya?

*sigh*
Seriously.....why would ya.

My record?

Does colouring with sidewalk chalk at my age count? LOL
(don't answer that.)
:-/

Thanks for the heads up re: Bev. I've got a list of blogs from MPJs to visit in the weeks ahead and Asberger square 8 is on it along with yours. There's just so much to do and so little time … although (being happily retired) I have more time than most ... and in retrospect, sometimes wonder how I ever got anything done when I worked until I remember that I was younger then. LOL
Hugs and blessings,

i can't imagine how distorted that corset lady's innards must be. that can't be good for a person.

The nails I can handle but the hair...no way. How would I wash it or comb it. Both the nail lady and hair lady probably have people who have to help them.

And I'm with Craig on the boogies....sinus infection is killing me :(

I can't breathe just LOOKING at that corset. I felt fat before lookin' at her...thanks! ;)

Happy New Year!

That is all just plain CREEPY! That woman with the nails must have someone to dress her, bathe her, wipe her, and everything else in between! Just plain creepy and crazy. And like someone else asked, "WHY???"

I am glad I don't have any of those world records. I would go a little nuts

Excellent question regarding the fingernail lady. I mean...I'm just obsessing about it now. How does she?

kristina said...

What a relief that Charlie lets me cut his fingernails now!

Ian Lidster said...

How does she indeed go to the loo. I was also wondering in that regard about the pressure of Cathy Jung's corsetry on both her bladder and other internal plumbing. Not a soothing thought. That was fun.

Patti said...

those nails are too weird...and that woman's waist is freakish.

It looks like you had a wonderful time with C the other day. I wish you two a Happy and Healthy 2008!

Rising Rainbow said...

Very strange. That's all I can say....or will.

vivavavoom said...

all those records aren't things I would necessarily be proud of. I can't say I hold any distinction like those.....which is probably a good thing!!

and I would say that first kid has some major zinc deficiency!!

I had long nails once, could not do a thing! I was useless. It boggles my mind how she functions.

I was part of a world record attempt a few years ago. My hubby tried to organize the most people making snow angels at the same time. We came very close, but didn't break the record. Made the front page of the paper, taken from a helicopter. It was actually very strange/cool to be laying on the ground with close to a thousand people, all making snow angels at the same time.

XOXOXO

Geez...it seems like all the interesting world records are already taken. Too bad...now I have nothing to aim for.

Happy New Year and hope 2008 is all you want it to be !

BBC said...

I have no records other than I set the fast time on a race track years ago that was never broke.

Growing nails that long is just plain stupid, by the way, who supports her?

I've known about the man that eats metal for years. Think about this, metals are made from minerals, plants are grown in minerals, he is just taking a sort of different path by eating metals instead of plants.

Only the minerals in the metals have been processed so may actually be safer than some of natures minerals.

Mark my words on this, one day scientists will one day figure out how to make nutritious foods from rocks, especially rocks along the seashores.

But it won't be like eating hubcaps and glass, more like good breads, meat like things, and other tasty things.

And you are young enough to see that in your lifetime, assuming you live to my age, but I'm not taking any bets on that.

The Recipe For Casdok is interesting, but you forgot to include the "One part difficult". :-)

Forget the loo, how does she get panty hose on without snagging it or get dressed or drive a car or eat? Exercise? The list goes on.

Thank goodness I am not that crazing about breaking records.

Happy 2008 to you and yours.

Oh God. How tough it must be to take a bath with hair that long. I wonder how much she spends on shampoo and conditioner. And I wonder how much she pays for the water bills.

Eyepopping and the nails freaked me out. Heheh
