Inspiration for the New Year

Am feeling particularly frazzled this morning. As I anticipated a really difficult night for C because of the fireworks that seems to go on forever. The inevitable head banging frenzy ended when he knocked himself out. And that was even with wearing his helmet.
This morning he’s like nothing happened. He seems ok. Thankfully. We will have a quiet day, well that’s the plan!

I received my latest update (as i am a volunteer) on the 2012 Olympic Games which are being held in London (and various other places over the UK) As they are so close to me I really would like to go and see some of the Paralympics Games. Maybe I should enter C into the high jump and running!

Thinking on this reminded me of Dick and Rick Hoyt a truly inspirational story.

Talking of inspiration, I recently came across this young mans blog - Alin. I'm sure he would like to meet you.

Who inspires you?

All the best for '08 to both you and C Cas, I hope the year treats you well and provides some of the answers you need.
I'm sorry C and you had such a rough time last night, I was thinking of you when the fireworks went off and my cat was trying desperately to find somewhere to hide from the noise.
Love, BG x

Well, happy new year to you. I am inspired when I come in contact with generosity and energy. That extra bit ... hard to define it, but when I sense its presence, it encourages me.

Have to say that I do often feel that presence when I come calling at this blog!

Here's hoping you and C have a wonderful 2008. As for who inspires me, I must admit it is my daughter, Ashley. Her challenges are many and huge, but her spirit is bigger!

Happy New Year!

Happy Happy New Year! Hope you are having a fabulous day----sometimes I just have to work it through and wait it out with Charlie too and things are all right. Best wishes!

My Aunt Bobbie and my little brother are inspirational. Both in their own unique ways. My brother fancies himself an entreprenauer and in many ways he has already been successful in business. They make me proud.

I too was thinking about all the people that fireworks can bring more bother than pleasure, we were in a large village last night with 'bombs' going off all over, very frightening if you don't understand what it's all about - happy 2008 to you and C

Inspiration? Family. Eay answer.
Outside of family? No offense to loyal British Imperialists but Ghandi beat the Empire without ever lifting a hand in violence.

My inspiration in life has been for years my late uncle, Norman Lidster. This brilliant man (intellectually) was completely paralyzed and blind from rheumatoid arthritis, that hit him in his teens, yet went on to become a working journalist and author, despite spending his life in a care home.
Uncle Norman is my genuine hero.

I've heard of Team Hoyt before but as usual, when I see something like this inspirational video, I lose it and need the kleenex. If only we could ALL be like that father. But we do the best we can under whatever circumstances we're given. Thankfully, I brought my daughter home from the hospital today and we're hoping it's the beginning of a much better year. Happy New Year to you and C! May it be a great one! :D

Happy New Year!
I've seen this father and son speak and I've seen a short film about them. The father has also written a book I believe it's called "It's Only A Mountain". It's fabulous if you can find it.

What an awful night that must have been for C. Fireworks are so loud and over stimulating. My 16 year old has always hated them, ever since she was a little girl. She use to go into a full panic attack. I am glad he is OK this am.

I love the video. I too am humbled and touched by such love and courage.

My inspiration was my sister. Despite having a major physcial disability, she never let it hold her back or use it as an excuse for not doing what needed to be done for her daughter. She also had so much love and compassion in her heart. Giving and caring...no bitterness. She never gave up, she continues to inspire me from above, and through her beautiful daughter.

Thanks for sharing this video. I've seen these two interviewed on TV a few times and think they're role models for all of us. Talk about putting life into perspective and setting priorities. As I was glancing through the comments others left in response, the banners in your sidebar caught my attention and I think they're wonderful. Do you create them yourself or is there a commercial source? I look forward to visiting your blog often in 2008 and learning more each time.
Hugs and blessings,

I appreciate your generosity. The teacher in me loves to share positive images to counter the negativity in the media and (all to often) in unconscious minds all around. Every little bit helps. I believe posters like these raise awareness and shift perceptions, subtly changing reality.

Belated greetings for the new year! I hope C is well and you are enjoying more of your holiday together.

Inspiration? Certainly families like the Hoyts. But also families who love, honor and respect their members who are outside of the "typical" mold --be it physical, cognitive, or whatever. It sets an example i wish others would follow.

You inspire me often with your thought provoking posts, your wonderfully shameless expressions of love and affection for C, and more.

May 2008 be a year that shines bright for both you and C. xo
