Worst Christmas Presents

Apparently these are the worst presents you can give someone this Christmas!

McDonald's Gift Certificates
DVDs from the bargain bin
Air freshener
A plain ol' mouse, mousepad, or keyboard
Christmas tree ornaments
Anything edible
A magazine subscription
The Magic 8-Ball
Any “for Dummies” book
Blank VHS Tapes

My present was a windscreen wiper!! (Don't ask, and just the one!) But saying that it is one of my most memorable presents!

What was yours?

My favorite present was from C (hes so clever!) his finger print on a necklace. It feels as though i have a part of him with me where ever i go.

LOL - blank VHS tapes!

My worst present was a black rubber bracelet. Just plain weird.

I've gotten so many good ones. I like the ones the kidlets make themselves, though.

What a fantastic gift that C gave you! I know that Elissa would love that one from Jack (I may have to steal the idea - sorry...).

The worst present that I have ever been given would have to be the box of chocs from my Nana - now before everyone yells at me and thinks that I am totally heartless, they turned out to be assorted coffe flavours and I was only six! We still laugh about it today....

I had the necklace made last year, When i phoned they asked how old C was - i said 18 and she said "months"?!! No 18 years! She was a bit taken back as most people do them with thier babies.
C had to press his finger in some clay which was not very straight forward as C dosnt do pressing, so he had a bit of help.
But well worth it!

Damn- I love magazine subscriptions! Now if I only had time to read them.

I love C's necklace...my favourite Christmas present is a "wreath" that my son made (with help)...his handprints in a circle on linen. It looks like a wreath, but he actually had to put his hand in paint to do it! Our kids are great :-)

A superb list, although I have to admit a windscreen wiper would come in handy just now.

One Christmas just about everybody got me soap, shampoo, aftershave or some such thing. It really knocked my confidence...

That necklace is such a cool idea!

I love the fingerprint necklace! Wonderful!

I like the dummies books, I recently bought one for Windows XP.

I don't expect to get anything for Christmas.

Pretty sure I won't be getting world peace. Or the one other thing I would like to have.

I can't really think of a worst present. I remember I was about 9 and disappointed with a mini sewing kit sent by some aunt - but I still have it 40 years later and have used the contents.

If someone gave me a magic8 ball I would be pleased! Someone had one at school once when I was young and I thought it was brill!

I give lots of edible things! Apparently I am making a mess of things in the gifting department.

My worst present ever turned out to be one of my best: it was a good, heavy pair of shears. It was my only christmas present when I was 10. I thought it was the single worst idea my parents had ever had (they are somewhat notorious). I am still using them, of course, because every(adult) needs a good pair of shears!

I had a weird gift last year---since I have a wholesale connection from my old business, I'm able to get cologne and perfume at rock-bottom prices. We buy a boatload for ourselves and family about once a year (have to buy in quantity).

I'd just gotten done fulfilling everybody's orders for the year (my brother bought a couple of pricey bottles of Chanel for his girlfriend for Xmas), when I got his present.

He bought me a bottle of some really stinky old-lady perfume from somewhere else! LOL I ended up regifting it to an elderly friend who adores the stuff.

My middle-aged husband's older brother gave him a Playboy keychain one year. We're still scratching our heads over that one!

The worst for me was a key chain with the Playboy Bunny logo!

The best, however, was last Christmas morning my 135# Buffledog crawled into bed with us - a thing he never did before - and we all slept in until noon.

My aunt gave me a shirt from a cheap discount store. It had plastic buttons with sparkles. It was a size 18 and I am a size 4.

I'm not a jewellery perso nmyself, but something like your fingerprint necklace sounds lovely, very unique :).
I wouldn't mind a magazine subscription if the person getting it for me knew what sort of things I like. Same with dvds, if they chanced upon a good one.

I have worked long and hard to get the people around me to give up on holiday presents... and to only give presents when - out of the blue - the gift is inspired.

Then, all the gifts are great. C:)

It has to be a keyring. A really naff one at that. But I appreciate all my Christmas presents. I don't get any presents otherwise...!!

awww I love the finger print neclace!
that is the sweetest thing...makes me teary...

Paul F. said...

That is an awesome present C gave you. So clever and thoughtful...who could imagine? I really want to ask about the wiper though. ha ha!

Let me see...just about every shirt my mom buys me. Her taste in clothing is beyond bizarre, but she thinks it's cool.

andrea said...

I too am a size 4 and have received size 16 shirts! What's with that?

Chris H said...

The worst present was: a box of biscuits from my Father in Law, at the time he did not like me... and when we opened them they were all soft and stale! I'm sure he did it deliberatly too! Next up would be "granny" knickers from my Mum... ikkkk.
The best one would have to be this years L I T T L E something on me finger right now!

laughingwolf said...

not all on that list are even 'bad', much less 'worst'

grats on the fingerprinted necklace, that's perfect!

things my 3 made when young are still precious to me

can't recall if there was a 'worst'....

Wallace and Grommit Underpants?

Nah I rather like them really :)

The sad thing is, most of these sound like fun presents to me except maybe the blank VHS tapes. The Magic 8-Ball? I'd love to have one, take it apart and "customize" it. Bwahahahaha! Edible stuff? Sure, I'm down with that.

My husband and I were having a conversation along these lines recently, lamenting the fact that stuff we would have dreaded getting as kids actually sounds kind of nice now. "Why, mom! You got me a twelve pack of plain white briefs and some socks! Cool; now I'm set for the next year!"

Duller than sin, that's us.

Magic 8-Balls are the bomb! The person who invented the phrase "Reply hazy- check back later..." has got to be the greatest management strategist the world has ever seen!

Kelly Malloy said...

I would actually like some of those presents! With 6 boys the McDonald's gift cards would be appreciated as would anything edible!

That necklace is a cool idea... I will have to try that with my kindergarten students.

Worse gift from a boyfriend would have to be a Miami Hurricane's hooded sweatshirt.

McDonalds do gift vouchers??????

LOL!

The worst present I ever witnessed was bought by a friend of mine many years ago for some friends of hers who were students- she had bought them some ordinary, standard A4 lined, holed, marginned writing pads, two each, the kind you put into ring-bound files. They weren't even a great make or anything, just a supermarket brand. I thought it had to be a joke, or maybe she had some fancy pen to go with them, but no! She was serious! I was speechless. LOL!

I bought my partner a magazine subscription this year (among other things I hassen to add!!!) and it came early so he's seen and read it, - and he's delighted with it!

Cant remember my best pressie. Haven't had many good ones. Not to say I haven't appreciated them, but few have shown signs of great, deep thought along the lines of "Hey, what would she really, really like? Like, what's she into?" Hence I get chocolates. Really great, fancy chocolates. But still, chocolates.

And gift vouchers.

Oh, and socks.

With cats on.

My worst present was a toss-up; my husband waited until Xmas to replace our family printer, so that he could wrap it and give it to ME, so that he could kill two birds with one stone.

The other was a gorgeous shearling coat that my mother bought me...two sizes too small to encourage me to lose weight.

Horrifying.

Love that fingerprint necklace!

Does anything edible include wine? Because I'd like to go on the record as saying wine is always a good present!

You just made me laugh, a windscreen wiper.....

Was it edible???

Thanks for your comments and a Merry Christmas to you and all your readers.

Worst present was an ironing board cover. Not even a snazzy one! It was crackly and nylon. And I don't iron...

The necklace is truly beautiful:-)

There is no good time to give a McDonalds gift certificate unless the recepient is under the age of 10.

Thank you for stopping by BrainFreeze.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

I agree with every one of your selections! And thanks for stopping by my blogs! Merry Christmas!

Those "Dummies" books annoy me but magazine subscriptions are great gifts to give or to get.

One of my best gifts would have to be the ceramic jewelry dish SB made for me in school this year. Which reminds me ... I need to take a picture and share it on my blog.

The worst? Possibly a bathing suit (too small, of course) I received one year from a student. Huh???!!!

The fingerprint necklace is beautiful. Love that idea.

Merry Christmas to you and your family!
