The Snowman

I took C up to London yesterday to see the stage version of Raymond Briggs The Snowman. There is hardly any talking in the show so C quite enjoyed it ( that's why i chose it, also he has watched the video about 1000 times or more!). The average age of the audience was about 4 so their noise drowned Cs noises out!

We then did one of our usual routes taking in the ice rink at Somerset house. C being a people watcher just loves watching people skate or rather try to.

I took a photo on my phone of the Christmas tree there, if your eye sight is really good you can just about see us in the reflection!!

Then on to Trafalgar square with a lunch stop at McDonald's. I'm not a fan of McDs, but C hasn't been eating much this hols and i can guarantee he will eat their fries! We also went to the loo there, they still haven't replaced the tiles C smashed with his head from last time we were there! Thankfully no repeat performance this time!

As you can see Trafalgar Square was getting ready for New Years eve, with big screens and fencing off the water from revelers!

Am not looking forward to tonight as C finds the noise of fireworks really distressing and there is not a lot i can do about it.

We then walked down past number 10 and on to Big Ben. It was packed. I prefer London in the winter as its usually quiet and easier to walk in straight lines for C! The sun was out bringing the crowds, so I thought we would call it a day and go home!

Casdok and C wish you all a happy, healthy, and safe New Year!

Sounds like an excellent day. I have to say, every time I read your page, I think to myself how fortunate C must be to have such a caring and devoted mother. Hope you get some "me" time, too. Happy New Year to you both.

Oooh, bet C loves Mr. Bean as well. We're certainly not English but I find both my children on the spectrum *really* enjoy him. I think he's funny but would NOT want to meet a character like that IRL.

I'm looking at these pictures and thinking WOW. I think Elf would be very overwhelmed with all the people, noise and stuff going on but G would have such a great time looking at Big Ben and things. Even though they are both on the spectrum they can be so different. They both talk though so most of the time people think nothing is different about them until a misunderstanding pops up... then they plotted it, you know?

I guess if you're staying up anyway and you make popcorn RIGHT at midnight he might not hear it?? I don't know. I hope it works out ok for you tonight with C.

Those pictures are great. I am glad you had a nice time. We have the Snowman book. Maizie likes shows with few words too. She loves Mr. Bean series for that same reason. Have a Happy New Year!

Fireworks, argh !! So noisy and polluting. Maybe human life on this planet will end with fireworks?

I guess that would be a fitting ending.

What a beautiful day you had! Someone should do a study on Autism and McDonald's french fries. I do the same thing if Jaysen hasn't eaten in awhile. He san't refuse the power of McD's chicken nuggets and fries.

Wishing you and C a happy and healthy New Year! ~X~

Because our town was jam packed on Saturday (practically all the Restaurants were full, no room for two thirsty humans) hubby and I popped into Mac Donalds for a cuppa, it wasn't bad at all, I'm surprised we found a spot, I do believe there's something magical for kids and teenagers in MacD's.
I wish you and C everything of the very best for the New Year! ! !

Happy New Year. And I have a question... maybe you have blogged about it before and I have missed it but how has C changed you. Do you find you are made happy at different things because of C?

Wow what a question!
Its a difficult question to answer. But i am certainly alot more aware of things and more accepting of others, and appreciate the little things in life.
My life has certainly changed as i am a lot more isolated and believe it or not have a very low self esteem out side of the autistic world.
Maybe i should think on this a bit more and do a post!!

Hello there - thanks for visiting mine. I'll put you up on my Guest Blog spot for January but I hardly think you NEED the exposure you seem to have plenty of visitors and I can see why! Great blog.

Happy New Year to you and to C! Trafalgar himself would stay away from the Square tonight. Here's to a peaceful night. Good luck!

Of course, in my attempts to be clever, I should clarify that I know Trafalgar is a place, not a person. Still, I suppose Nelson would stay away too. I'll claim fatigue. Happy New Year all the same.

Casdok,
May peace break into your house and
may thieves come to steal your debts.
May the pockets of your jeans become
a magnet of $100 bills. May love stick
to your face like Vaseline and may
laughter assault your lips! May your
clothes smell of success like smoking
tires and may happiness slap you
across the face and may your tears be
that of joy. May the problems you had
forget your home address!
In simple words ...........
May 2008 be the best year of your life!!!
