Where Mother of Shrek was created

Whats on your PC desk?
I went out last night with my Aunt for her 70th birthday , we had a super meal. My aunt is in a wheelchair. The difference in attitude from the public to someone in a wheelchair compared to when i am out with C was so different. People were helpful, polite and friendly! A new experience for me!! A lovely evening had by all!

I'm glad you had a nice evening out. I'm sorry your aunt is in a wheelchair so young. My mother, aged 91, is in one now and people are usually helpful. However, when I was a childminder and continually had a double buggy people werent so helpful!

Pleased you had a good time, though it is upsetting that attitudes are more negative when you're with C.

Glad you had a good night and you where treat with respect, I have so often seen that the other way round, I don't have a computer desk it is sat on my knee, cigs, lighter, ashtray, mug and TV remote on the arm of the sofa.

Yes they do get knocked of regularly too, so maybe I should invest in a desk..xx

Even wheelchair users are not always treated as human (Does she take sugar syndrome). So glad you and your aunt had a happy time.

Yes i know, i was in a wheel chair for a while. And found i was ignored!

Gads! How can you keep your computer station so tidy? Mine is a large old walnut office desk with a set of shelve on one side of it where the printer, books, and other things live.

Also on the desk is a phone & answering machine and all sorts of papers, articles, notes, and miscellaneous other things.

And something I started making for Goddess, but I haven't finished it yet, maybe there is no point in finishing it.

A sure sign of a busy and cluttered mind. It's not a pretty sight, want to see a picture of it? :-)

Oh, yes, it is different for those in wheelchairs. In general old folks in wheelchairs get treated well. Younger folks may or may not. Maybe it's some sort of respect for older people and a desire to help them.

C draws attention because of his actions that are so noticeable and people in wheelchairs are less noticeable.

It has always been that way, and I'm sure always will be. Educating others helps, it reaches some people, but not everyone.

All you can do is do the best you can, so keep up the good work hon.

Cute :). My poor little desk is covered in wrapped Christmas presents :(. So I get to do Fragile What?! from my bed with my laptop. I actually like this arrangement better I think. Cozier.

Happy you had a good time.

Love seeing where you work. Also, love the
monitor-I can see you have your blog site up!!!!

Is that a crystal ball underneath the monitor?
I have my crystal right next to me.

Love you

Love seeing your desk! I don't have one -- never liked sitting at desks. I have big plush chair and a laptop. :) Glad you had a lovely evening out with your aunt.

You must have very skinny knees, Casdok!, and what's all that stuff top left?? Best, etc.

I liked this post. We have a lamp, a phone (yikes) PC speakers, papers, a stapler, a mouse, a windup catterpillar, a pen, a 'crap' clip and a stop watch (N3S adores watches)and a letter from my grammy which needs answering, on our desk.

Maddy said...

Well that must have made for a very pleasant change.

As for the computer, it's a lap top in the kitchen next to the stove and a stack of papers!

Cheers

I must still be high on the tryptophan from all the turkey I ate for American Thanksgiving on Thursday. Because the first thing I thought of when I read the title "Where Mother of Shrek was Created" was,

Your parents TOLD you??

And then I expected to see a pic of either some nice romantic place, or a 1960's auto with a relatively large back seat. ;)

I'll get my mind out of the gutter now.

That is the cleanest desk I've ever seen!

Mine is a mess of Cds, notes, pads, pens, and soda cans...

I give up. How can you be so organised with so much going on? I am going to throw away my desk, my computer and learn to live my life again. It's a lie. I am going to carry on in the same old pig sty. But my admiration doubles.

my desk is much, much messier. AND i just cleaned it off.

Elissa said...

What a beautifully clean and tidy desk! Can you please come and clean mine?!?... can't really find it at the moment - I know it's here somewhere!!!

Amanda said...

wow....your desk is tidy.
ummm paper, odds and ends, on my desk,
i've heard some autistics/ or their parents deciding to -use a wheelchair while out because it tends to get you more help/respect.

I think this is a very wierd phenomenon. As if there is a hierarchy of disability. My son often uses sign to communicate, people will often cheerfully ask me, "is he deaf"? When I say no, he has Autism, they act like I just said a dirty word. I always thought this was strange.

OMG!! I have a green plush alien EXACTLY like this! But what's the thing over Mr. Spock's head?
