Is Paddington autistic?!!!

Yes Paddington has after all these years of eating marmalade sandwiches, has switched to marmite!

It must be true i saw it on TV!!!

And my immediate thought was 'hes autistic'!!!

C eats the same thing for years and then suddenly stops! And i have a mad panic to try and find something else that he will eat! He grew up on french bread and crisps, then did a few years on pizza and now its pasta. Oh and my special muffins. When out its chips (wont eat chips at home). He will also go for days without eating at all. I am amazed he has grown to 6 foot and is still growing!!

But he does love his marmite, may be that's why!

Or was it the bark from playgrouds?

Have you seen Foster's for Imaginary Friends? The character Cheese is a very adorable version of someone who behaves Autistic.

I never really considered Paddington Bear to be Autistic. I always thought he was just acting really British. LoL, I guess it must be I don't know many people in England.

Paddington Bear isnt really autistic! He just reminded me of C eating habits!
There are lots of fictional characters on tv who show autistic traits http://www.geocities.com/WestHollywood/Stonewall/4502/famousac.html

Way so familiar style of eating, Chips while out, yup.

My 10 yo is still in the pizza stage for every meal he can get. Which isn't ideal when the doc' says keep off the glutin.

Thank god for 1 local pizza company that sells Gluten Free based pizza's.

Just found your blog and think you are doing a great job teaching about autism. I will recommend it.

I used to love Paddington. I must remember to watch him. I can't see Amy eating marmite though.

Robot Boy had very similar eating habits . . . would eat nothing but jacket poatoes for years and then stopped dead - hated them . . . he too went for days without eating . . ended up seeing an eating specialist . . .he is ok now though and six foot . . . goodness knows where his body found the fuel to grow.

We've been listening to a CD of Paddington in the car and I had the very same thought.

Glad to hear that one can reach 6 foot plus on a mono diet. Very reassuring.
Cheers

I'm with Paddington - LOVE marmalade (but hate jam and marmite!).

I met Michael Bond once, creator of Paddington. Don't know what he'd think about the marmite! But I def rather have a marmite one than a marmelade one!

I have not seen ad yet, not keen on Marmite! Prefer Bovril and as far as Paddington goes he should have stuck to marmalade, so much nicer and stickier!!

Padington could well be autistic, or is he doing it just for the money!!

Then there's the magic round about.....now who could be autisic on that or does the drugs make them normal??

I prefer cheese sandwhiches myself. When I was a wee lad, I ate PB&J everyday. Then I stoped.
Sometimes toast and a thin layer of peanut butter would be just as fine.
By the way, I am moving for several reasons: first, I need a change, second, my landlord sold the flat I am renting.

Hi Chopper has just shown me your blog. Our N3S has an Autistic spectrum 'disorder'. He is only 4 1/2 so too young to formaly diagnose but the working diagnosis is Aspergers. Our N3S has serious food 'fads' too, but then so do I...though having said that we def know which side of the family the Aspergers comes from! Yup, mine!

K.C. does something similar. He'll eat the same thing over ond over again and then he'll just stop. It's tough to find a different food because he will not try new stuff.

I wish I could just suddenly stop eating ice cream! But that is a weakness I'll probably always have.

You're an inspiration Paddington!

Why don't I know what marmite is? It sounds as if I'm not missing out on much.

But oh, did I ever used to love that Paddington!

Okay you've got me Googling "marmite" the closest I could come up with on my own is "vegemite" and I don't think that's right. :)

Very sensible I'd say.

Sybil is into Fromage Frais at the moment. She ate 5 in a row on Sunday. She said "I'll have a youghurt. That's a good idea, even if I do say so myself". She's seven.

Paddington eats marmalade! How can they change something so fundmental to his character?
